Overview
Mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOH) are complex compound mixtures that are obtained from crude oils, among other things, and can lead to contamination in the production of food due to their wide range of applications. Mineral oil hydrocarbons are divided into two groups: Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons (MOSH) and Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH).
Mineral oil as a food contaminant has attracted attention due to its potential adverse effects on human health, in particular, MOAH is cited as a potential major concern due to its toxicity and genotoxicity. Contamination can occur during various stages of the value chain, from production to packaging and storage.
Never has it been so important to get accurate quantification of MOH. The first regulatory limits are expected at the beginning of 2025 from the European Union Commission.
During this webinar our experts will review the new legislation, the analytical methods for official quantification, as well as the new quantification method to confirm results.
