All right. Welcome to the webinar. Appreciate everybody taking time out of your busy days. We know that you have businesses to run and there are other things to schedule. So thanks for taking some time with us to go through this year end review. A lot has changed at Orion, 2023 is no exception. And so this year, we decided to take our year end tech review and and turn it into a two-part series given there's been a huge involvement in the platform and a lot of things that we're going to discuss today. Before we jump into it, a few housekeeping items. If you do have any questions, of course, feel free to submit them via chat and we'll answer those throughout the webinar. The second part of this series will be November 30th, and we'll touch on a few things that we'll cover at the end of this. But today the way that we're going to walk through the system and and a couple of things that have changed. We're going to talk a lot about a few of the key things that have changed this year related to financial planning, the client portal, our proposal tool. We'll really emphasize a few key areas there. And then the second installment of this on November 30th, we'll go through trading and compliance and some of the custom indexing features and functions that we've we've continued to expand there. So it should be a really worthwhile time spent with some of the changes that have taken place and and hope you'll join us for both of those. Before I kind of pass off to my colleagues to discuss a couple of the items I mentioned. One key thing that I think is worth discussing and and making sure everybody's aware of is the shift we've made at the beginning of this year to go under our our new stack bundled structure. And you might be saying, well what on earth is Stacks? What what, what's the purpose, why, why are you doing this is Orion, you know, no longer Orion. And really what Stacks has allowed us to do is take all of these systems that we've built out over the last couple of decades, some of the acquisitions we've made over the last couple of years and put them into a single source system. So you now have an operational chassis that your business can run off of. If you go back several years ago, you know even five, 6-7 years ago, if you go back and look at some of the the ways that we handled integrations and structures and set up the the systems, it was really a core operating portfolio accounting system. And then you would integrate with a financial planning tool or risk intelligence tool or CRM and that integration tended to be relatively weak. You single sign on in some cases was the really the depth of that integration. You then had to balance multiple tech contracts. You were being invoiced from multiple services. You had user accounts you had to to rely on and and say, hey, we have a new employee now we got to add in the budget another $2500 a year because we have a new employee and we have all these per user license costs. And so it really started to get out of hand. I think most of you probably are thinking through the last few years, your contract and the way your technology has been set up. You've had a core system and then you've had several ancillary systems all independently and independently contracted, all structured uniquely, all invoiced at different times throughout the year. And frankly that headache alone was enough to make your finance team scream. And so take away all of the services from a true integration standpoint, just narrowing it into one all-encompassing solution under the Orion umbrella while still giving you the scale and autonomy to run your firm tend tends to make a big difference. And so the stacks were really designed to allow you to have a full end to end solution from a technology perspective. So one, you can spend more time acquiring and building relationships with your clients. And two, you can scale without the concern that you're going to outgrow your system and have to go through a significant transition in your business much sooner than you had anticipated. We all know that transitioning transactional data and historical data that can take some time and and that's a cost Center for a firm when you have to do that. And so the stacks are really designed to provide not only that all-encompassing solution with tools beyond just your standard reporting, billing, trading solutions, but to give your team some autonomy to scale where you'd like to go. So the way we think about stacks, you know there's there's kind of a front end to that the the, the bundled solution for Orion all the way through to the the client reviews and ongoing relationship with your client. So everything starts on the CRM side and now with the stack system that we have in place from the Orion perspective, we have the ability to include CRM or Redtail as part of that that solution. So right up front, you have an industry built CRM, one of the unique CRMS that was actually built out-of-the-box for our industry, built right into the Orion ecosystem. You and your advisors and your operations staff can actually live within the Redtail system and access all of the Orion functions from there. So even simple things like not having to manage multiple logins day in and day out, not having to tab between the custodian and Orion and the CRM and my financial planning tool being able to consolidate that allows you more time back in your day to focus on your clients and their needs. Everything starts at the CRM side and then moves into the core portfolio accounting component with our Within Orion which gives you full robust reporting, billing, trading, client experience type services. And and that's all been built out over the last couple of decades to to ensure that we're flexible and nimble to meet you or your business is I think probably one of the most critical things when we think about stacks is it allows us instead of just the fluff of saying that we'll meet you where your firm is, the ability to have a number of solutions under one roof at Orion gives you the ability to say, here's where we're going, here's where we are today, here's where we're going, whether that's organic or inorganic growth. And the Orion system partnering with the system like Orion can really meet you where your objectives and goals are from a firm perspective. Now the other thing I'll mention about stacks is, of course you have, you know, you think about the core things that are included as you're looking through some of the slides on the screen here, CRM reporting, full trading capabilities, billing, client experience, mobile application, those are great core tools you should expect. But on top of that, you also have some industry leading platforms that are now built into that, one of them being Orion Risk Intelligence. So not just from a proposal perspective, but for more risk analysis, stress testing and risk monitoring perspective, you have a full platform without user limitation to make sure your businesses and clients are in a good spot from a risk perspective and that that's a piece that's included within that stack structure. The other side of course is Orion compliance. When you think about compliance, I know everybody probably rolls their eyes and says, well, compliance is something that we focus on when we need to focus on it. But anybody that sat in a chief compliance or officer seat or worked on the compliance, I'm from a firm perspective understands when you need something from a compliance perspective, it can tend to be a bit of a headache. So our acquisition of basis code which is what we now call Orion compliance is part of that stack bundle to again give you that full end to end solution. You can handle all of your year end or amendable reviews from an ADP perspective, you can monitor. From a client perspective you can do share class reviews. A number of things you can do within that platform, which I would highly encourage you. If you're on this webinar and haven't had a chance to look at anything related to our compliance, I would highly recommend you take a chance to do that. So I won't belabor the point. I think you get the the sense of what I'm talking about here this the stack system. The whole idea behind Orion stacks is to give you an overarching system, one structure that you can use from a firm perspective to manage all of your operations. And then if there's some things that that you need to outsource, that's also something that's that's available within that stack structure and gives you the ability to kind of scale at the pace that you would like to and need to from a firm perspective. So like I mentioned, we're of course happy to talk about that in more detail. We can schedule time to go through specific demos, but I'd like to pass some time over to my colleague to talk about the proposal tool here and show you some of the innovations we've made over the last the last year. Thank you, Sean. My name is John Leaders. I'm Director of Product Management and I focus on the proposal workflow. So today I'm going to give you a short demo of the advisor portal, specifically the proposal workflow. And highlight some of the enhancements for 2023. Let's get started. So here we are on the advisor portal dashboard and I'm going to go to the quick actions button and we're going to kick off a new proposal. So one of the existing features that we have on step one is the ability to import an existing household from multiple sources. So in this case, I know I've already created a household in Orion planning software, and so I'm going to search for that household here. And I'm going to start with Alan Shepherd. Step 2 is an integration with Orion planning, and while I wait for this to load, this is going to give me a view into some of the goals that were established in a previous session with Alan and setting up those goals there. I have the ability to view those goals here. As you can see, I also have the ability to add a new goal if I wish in this screen without having to go back into the Orion planning software. Once I'm done here, I can go to the next step. Step three is also an Orion planning integration and this is where the client will enter their existing accounts via a Plaid integration. Once I'm done here, I can move to Step 4. Step four is questionnaires. This is the Risk Tolerance Questionnaire which I have the ability as a Rep to take the seven question questionnaire here on behalf of the client. I also have the ability to e-mail the questionnaire to the client so they can take it on their own. Once this questionnaire is completed I will get an e-mail that states that the client is done completing the questionnaire as well as the calculated score. I also have the ability as the Rep. To impose a score. If I already know what that is here I can manually enter the value. We also have the ability to restrict this ability if the firm so desires. We also have a broker dealer setting enhancement where a broker dealer can restrict the ability to impose if they also don't allow imposing a score. Once the risk score is calculated, we can then move to Step 5. This is where I begin to set up my registrations. So first I'm going to add a registration and select the custodian. Next is the account type. In this case I'm going to select an individual. The registration owners already filled in for me. The investment amount I'm going to add 200,000 here. I have the ability to tag this registration with a goal that was already created. Previously in Ryan planning or in step two of this proposal that I showed a moment ago. So in this case I'm going to select the goal of home. In this case it's going to be a home purchase. With this amount of investment, one enhancement for 2023 is the ability to split an advisory fee among multiple reps. So first here I'm going to select which fee I desire. And then I have the ability to select other reps that I want to share this advisory fee with. So in this case, I'm going to add a Rep and I have this menu which is going to show me the reps that are available within the same broker dealer, in this case, Sean is going to be a Rep that I'm going to split this fee with. I can then enter a percentage and in this case, I'm going to go 5050. I can do any split that's going to add up to 100%. I also have the ability to select who is going to be the primary Rep, and so in this case if I choose George as the primary, the effect here is is going to emphasize George as the primary Rep in the proposal output. Once I render the PDF, once I'm done here, I can save and I'm ready for setting the allocation. This is going to open a separate modal where I can start to enter my allocation. I first want to highlight the load model where we support entering of favourites. So if I have an allocation that I want to recall for future proposals, I can save it here. We also support overlay models as well as sleeve strategy aggregates. Both of these tabs are customizable as well if you want to align the naming convention with your products. The Add Model button pulls up a library of available models. I can choose an allocation of 1 or multiple models here. I also want to highlight a new product from Orion which is custom indexing in this case. This little check box is going to filter out all the models that are related to custom indexing. I'm going to choose one of those models here and click on Add models. Now I have. All three selections that I just selected in that modal. I then need to select the allocation up to 100% among all three of these models. Specific to the custom indexing model, I have this start button which is going to allow me to optimize this product. So this is a new workflow that was created specifically for this product. In this case I can select which. Path I want to choose and then further in this workflow it's going to allow me to enter existing holdings that I wish to use for the transition into the custom indexing portfolio as well as ESG restrictions and other cost basis information. So once I have the allocation set, I can then hit save and move to the next step of the proposal. One thing I also wanted to highlight is you do have the ability now to nickname a proposal. So for example if I'm running multiple proposals for an existing client and allowing them to choose which is best, I can name this alternative one. The final step of the proposal is step 6. So in this case I am going to select the pages that I want to render in the final report. In many cases, you may have a template that already exists. Which is going to select which pages on the right hand side which are going to be the final pages that render in the report. I also have other pages that I can select by adding the plus symbol, and I can also omit pages by just simply clicking on the -. Once I have the desired pages in my final output, I can then save that as a template, which is going to be in my favorites for future recall. I can then e-mail the final proposal document to my client. I can download and save locally and once I am done I can save and open account, which takes me to the new account workflow. One final item that I'd like to share is the proposal output. So we've been working very closely with marketing this year on refreshing our. Template specifically for Orion portfolio solutions. Here's an example page that on the left you can see the old version and on the right is the new refreshed version. You can see a lot better color, more crisp lettering, graphics and just overall a more professional looking document. So I wanted to highlight this as this is an enhancement to the proposal system overall and our capabilities of making a lot better, more professional looking documentation. Thank you again for your time today and allowing me to share the proposal system with you and some of the enhancements that we've made this year. If you'd like a sample of the PDF output that is available to you with a link in the webinar. Next, I'm going to pass you over to Cade, who's going to walk you through the Orion planning software. Thank you very much. Hello, my name is Cade. I'm a product manager with Orion Planning. We're really excited to share our top tech releases for the year of 2023. There's a lot to share here, so I will jump right into it. But before I do that, I just want to give a quick primer for anybody who's looking at or evaluating Orion planning for the first time. We are a good hybrid cash flow based slash goals based financial planning software and I would say at this point we've made enough enough investment in our behavioral finance offering. That I think that's probably a third leg to highlight here. So really excited to show you what we've done this year and without further ado, let's get into a quick demo. The first top release for the year that I'm going to highlight is our employment income, what if, so I am currently on our profile. This is where we enter kind of the base financial planning scenario and facts and. I've got, I've got Kurt's salary information entered here. I've got, you know, a start and stop date and an income growth rate. So this is, this represents our our base facts. But if I now travel to the retirement goal and I come down here to profile changes and I click on this, what if my income changes? This allows me to modify the base facts or even add an income source, and that's what I've done here, so. This income is set to stop at retirement, which I've modeled for age 65 for Kurt. But then we kind of have a transitional income source for Kurt and he's going to take, you know, a reduced salary for a couple of years. It's going to start at age 66 and end at age 68. And there's, you know, modest income growth here. So once I've applied this to the plan, I'm going to go ahead and just travel to the cash flow page to make sure that my changes have been taken. And you can see these two line items. I've got the, you know, the primary employment income and then I've got the transitional income. So what we're looking for is, you know, the primary income to stop at age 65 and then a transitional income to start at age 66 and going through to age 68 and that'll bring Kurt properly into retirement. So this is something that we're excited about that we hope will allow you to model a variety of different financial planning scenarios as it relates to employment and changes to the income landscape. So excited to get your feedback and and hope you get a lot of use out of this enhancement. The second top tech release for the year I'd like to share is an enhancement that we made. That allows you to enter manual positions and even create your own positions for manually created accounts. So I've got this taxable brokerage account here that I'll click into and right away I'm going to travel to this Holdings tab and you can see I've entered a couple of well known positions, Microsoft and Tesla. I'm going to add another that's more of a custom position. So let's just say that I'm working with someone who's got some alternative investments. You know, I wouldn't be able to, you know look that up. There's not, you know, they're not listed. I I don't necessarily know, you know what the market value is on a day-to-day basis, but I can make some guesses. So I'm going to just add a quantity here of shares and then a price per share and I'm going to automatically get my market value. I can assign these to any one of my asset buckets, and then I can actually customize the asset allocation so I can come down here, look at all the asset classes, and choose the one. That I think is the most accurate. I'll add this holding and now when I come to asset allocation I can see a summary of all of my holdings and that includes my specific holdings, so the ones that I've entered and or customized and then my non specific holdings. So if I come back to the summary I can get you know a good a good view of what my total market value is when I consider the non specific and specific holdings. I hope you get a lot of use out of this. This is something we're excited about and I think you know one potential use case is if you're providing a second opinion service or working with a prospect to be able to model a portfolio that allows you to demonstrate the changes that that you might make. The next top tech release for Orion Planning I'd like to highlight are additional enhancements that we've made to protect Live Dream. Now just as a quick primer for anyone who's looking at this for the first time, Protective Dream is kind of a bucketing approach, but really it's it's meant to address investor behavior. This idea came originally from Ashvin Schauber who wrote a great book called The Aspirational Investor and it was expanded and iterated on by our own the great doctor, Daniel Crosby, who is Orion's Chief Behavioral Officer. The idea here behind Protective Dream is around a phenomenon called mental accounting. Now, this is not a good or a bad thing. It's just a thing and everybody does it. You know the the deepest insiders and and investors alike. So the idea is that we treat and think about money differently based on how we feel about it, based on how we've framed it or account accounted for it mentally and emotionally and that really impacts the decisions that we make around money. So we created this tool to help advisors and investors reinforce and engage in great investor behavior. Now this is something we've been working on for some time, but the enhancements that I would like to highlight are some, some changes we've made that allow for additional customization and personalization. It used to be that we only had the ability to impact kind of global changes at the firm level. But now I'm, I'm not, I'm at the investor level and a lot of, I'm sorry, the advisor level, a lot of advisors asked for the ability to kind of create their own templates. So as long as the firm permit settings allow for this permission, I can come over here to the asset bucketing tab and you'll see this grid here where I can do everything from, you know, dragging and dropping assets into the buckets in which I want them to live, to changing the descriptions, to changing the number of buckets. I can even exclude assets all together from the asset bucketing makeup and hit save. And then of course at the level of the investor and you can also make changes that will only apply to this investor. So if I click on this little... menu, hit edit asset bucketing, I can go ahead and just like create, you know, another another bucket and I'll just give this some text, I'll go ahead and drag some assets here. Keep in mind that I can also put assets at the level of the position. So if I have you know if I'm working with an investor who has sorry let me just OK, so protective dream give now that I've got 4 buckets. But to return to my previous point, if I if I have, if I'm working with a client who has a concentrated stock position at the level of the position, I can actually move a single position into any one of these buckets to help demonstrate the idea that I'm trying to convey. So you can see at the level of the investor, my changes have been applied and now this allows me to represent this behavioral balance sheet in the way that makes the most sense for each individual investor. Well, that's it from me. With great pleasure, I will pass the ball to my friend and colleague TJ Maher, who is going to talk about the client portal. Thanks, Kate. I'm TJ and I'll be covering our top enhancements for the client portal this year. So one of the big themes this year for us was the redesign of our left sidebar of accounts here. So we did a ton of different updates here. We did a completely new design. Part of the primary reason was to make this a little bit easier to display larger account names. So by doing this we're able to double the account name size a double the the number of characters that can be shown here. We've also made it so you can customize the names and put different names in here. Account names, so whether your clients understand it, you know the name based off a model or management style. They can now update that to display that information here. We've also made it so the daily performance number change can be turned on and off. So we know some clients are really focused more on the long term and looking at something like a daily change can be a little bit distracting for their long term goals. And so we've made it so that can be turned on or off as well per client. We've also done some different things with the grouping, so you can also use now the managed account grouping, so if you use sleeves or different things like that where you need things grouped a specific way. Maybe you want to group things based off of custodian or management style. You can now do that in this left sidebar and have your accounts grouped with that specific grouping. We've also allowed the ability for unmanaged account, Asset, product and account level overrides now to display in here. So if you want an account to maybe be marked unmanaged for different things, but then have it show still in this managed section to allow for different reporting capabilities. You can now do that as well too. So lots of different changes here with our left sidebar. We're really excited about the enhancements that we've made to that this year. One of the next biggest features was enhancing our Contact my advisor section. So we've done a few different things here. You'll see that the advisor's image here their full name. They can now put their address, their phone number, e-mail address. They can create a link here, maybe it's a link to their. Firm's website, any sort of link they want to put there. They can also put kind of a little message as well here for their clients. They can also put a hyperlink down here. Additionally and one of the other cool features we added to here is the ability to create kind of a team approach. So maybe the client has kind of their primary advisor here, but then they also have a support team they work with as well. Those support team members can be added down here along with their phone. And e-mail address or those can be excluded as well too. And really, all these items are fully customizable. So if you only wanted to show maybe an address and phone number, you could do that. You can kind of pick and choose which one of these items you want to show here. And then you can also choose to schedule an appointment with whatever scheduling technology you use. That link can be uploaded here and the clients can schedule their appointment directly inside here. One of the last features is the ability to display different chart types. So clients look at their portfolio and their allocation in unique ways. And so we wanted to give them some different ways to look at their allocations. So standard we have the bar chart that we had previously. We've also added the ability to show pie charts and donut charts as well too. And so you'll notice that here on the summary page. As well as the positions page up here as well too. So just giving the clients a different view, you know based on how they like to see their allocations. I will now pass it over to Sean to wrap things up for us. Great. Thanks for the overview TJI. Hope that everybody got something out of the webinar today. This part one series that that went through a few of the tech innovations over 2023. As you can tell, a lot's changed like I mentioned at the beginning and we'll continue to innovate. One thing I can tell you that's a surety to Ryan is we will continue to change and innovate. This is not a stagnant system and we want to continue to take feedback from advisors and firms and the teams that we partner with to make the system better. So if you do have any additional questions, if you'd like to schedule some additional time to go into a detailed demo and review, please on screen, you can schedule some time, you can go through the process and we'd be happy to reach out and go through any any firm questions or things that you'd like to talk about. Otherwise, we hope you'll join us for Part 2 on November 30th. We're going to cover a couple of key innovations and updates that we've made related to our trading, compliance, custom indexing and more. A lot of things that that I think are really relevant to where the industry stands today. So we hope you'll join us for that. If you haven't registered already right on screen, you can register for that Part 2 and we'll certainly look forward to everybody joining then. Thanks everybody. Have a great afternoon. _1731873429080
