The Open Education Lab at Ontario Tech University is a student-run, staff-managed group that creates high-quality open education resources (OER) for direct use in Ontario Tech courses. Through their extensive content and technological expertise, the OE Lab provides support for faculty, staff, and students in both developing OER and embracing open education practices. Student workers at the OE Lab are compensated for their work and gain valuable project management and content development skills that can be applied to future educational and career pursuits.
In our upcoming webinar, student workers from the OE Lab will share their experiences creating OER for courses at Ontario Tech. These students will also:
- Provide examples of the OER they’ve created for Ontario Tech courses
- Discuss the impact of their work on student savings, student learning, and instructor course prep and teaching
- Share the lessons they have learned from working in a student-run OER lab
- Explain how the skills they’ve gained from working in the lab will benefit them in future education and career endeavors
