Central to the CDAlky process is an advanced reaction system design that significantly improves mass transfer relative to conventional contactors without using moving parts inside the reactor. The CDAlky reaction system operates at substantially lower temperatures than conventional alkylation processes, thus minimizing undesired side-reactions. CDAlky is therefore able to produce a higher quality alkylate product while consuming significantly less acid than conventional technologies. As CDAlky does not require rotating mixers or caustic/water post-treatment steps, the process is far less complex than conventional designs, thereby reducing initial capital cost, minimizing maintenance expense, and improving operational reliability.
Lummus Technology successfully commercialized the CDAlky process in 2013, and since then, interest in the technology has expanded dramatically. Lummus has established a strong position in the marketplace with 14 licensed units in place, and additional opportunities in the proposal and design pipeline. This webcast will introduce the key advantages of the CDAlky technology and will present options for improving refining operations by adopting this flexible, innovative technology.

Mr. Stephen Williams is a licensed Chemical Engineer with over 35 years’ experience in the oil and gas and petroleum refining industries. His current role is Technology Business Development Director, Refining and Gasification, where he is responsible for identifying and developing new business pursuits across Lummus Technology’s portfolio of licensed refining technologies. His petroleum refining experience includes process engineering, engineering design, process troubleshooting, and operations management roles. His Business Development experience spans over 20 years, and includes both domestic and international (Asia Pacific and Europe) assignments.
Jackeline Medina, Technology Manager, Refining & Gasification, Lummus Technology
Mrs. Jackeline Medina Bolivar is a Chemical Engineer with over 30 years of experience in oil processing and refining. Her current role is Technology Manager for Alkylation Technologies at Lummus Technology Refining and Gasification Division, where she is responsible for supporting the development and commercialization of Lummus Alkylation technologies. Mrs. Medina areas of expertise are Alkylation, Etherification, process engineering, engineering design, process troubleshooting, and technical service assistance. Mrs. Medina has been instrumental in the commercialization and implementation of fourteen CDAlky Units commercialized between 2013-2019. Mrs. Medina has a Chemical Engineer title from University Simon Bolivar at Caracas-Venezuela.

Adrienne Blume is the Executive Editor of Hydrocarbon Processing and Editor-in-Chief of Gas Processing & LNG. Her areas of focus cover the midstream and downstream markets—natural gas processing/LNG, oil refining and petrochemicals production. She holds an MA degree in English and Publishing from Rosemont College.
