The older version of the code that is 2000. 2 has become obsolete and we have to use this particular code to get the full advantage and our main model. Is to come up with a safe structured that is stable under the major earthquake so before we start? Let us look into the today's agenda. Or rather the outline of the presentation so we will talk about a little bit about the introduction to the arts. We Christians design and Watt. We need to consider and what are the main criteria is that need to be fulfilled? And we will talk about the analysis methodologies that are been stipulated in IS1890 part one. 2016. And as a designer what should be your choice of analysis. We will talk about equivalence static analysis. Model response history analysis. And also um a little bit about nonlinear response history analysis and definitely we will cover the response spectrum analysis, which is the major part and. Even uhm we have a dedicated session on the response spectrum analysis and what we're doing, we're using your software and. Each and every software has its own protocol. Some of these are parameter parameter drivel and those parameters should be properly used and what are those parameters? Next thing sufficient strength. We should be ensured that the strength you know should be sufficient, so we need to follow the uh. Design standard that is available for you know for the concrete, we need to follow IS 456. Still, we need to follow IS 800. Sufficient stiffness that should be a you know a cheap and while considering uh our softap story checking we. Well, we're getting some I mean, some of it's uh idea whether my stiffness is sufficient or not, and. Even we are considering one of the one of the thing at the time of Arctic resistant design that is the drift check. And that is being related with sufficient stiffness. That the structure has sufficient activity and for these for the concrete structure, we have to consider IS189. 13920 an all all of its provisions and for the steel structure. So this is the reference. And uh while considering the earthquake analysis, which is the which is a lateral force. We need to consider a few facts. Which is the actual one at the time of the lateral force? Which is the cyclic in nature. The there will be some cracks developed in the concrete section. So if we are doing our skews me kanala sis. Data that has been provided so we have. 2 types of data to be used for static an response spectrum analysis and this seized the data. Off by which we will be considering or we will be finding out the value of horizontal Seesmic acceleration. Coefficients. Uh and that and even for even I have as I've discussed and there is some other way by which we will be considering for the? Vertical directional motion analysis and will discuss that one a little bit later. So uh if we come directly to the clause number 6.4 point, three or PS1890 Part 1. We it is explaining the type of analysis that you can use some method of analysis is equivalent static. And the dynamic analysis, these 2 methods are prescribed. And using I mean, if you want to use any of the methods you have to be sure that. You know the uh the earlier method that is the static analysis is invalid and which will be in. In case of a 90% of your structure, even 999% of your structure that you were designing and then we need to move further dynamic analysis. Now the dynamic analysis can be performed using 3 methods. Response with the method that is the response picked a method is on very old method was developed by Hausner. And it is a little bit approximate. Uh one uhm even we can this is a linear sort of an al. Union type of dynamic analysis. We have got another type of analysis, which is the model time history. This is also a linear and we also call it as a model. Responses to analysis and we have the full fledged time history analysis method and that is known as respons history method. The and this method of analysis is nonlinear and generally we term it as an nonlinear time history analysis. So coming to the choice of analysis winnable. Whenever we are. Whenever we are uh you know performing an analysis say we will start with the static analysis in the static analysis. We have some assumption of the static analysis this is from the very basic. Um and we will explain why these assumptions are being taken and how we're taking that so 1st we are considering. If we are going for a equivalent static method of analysis. We we have to be sure that there is no plan and vertically. If my structure that I'm designing is having irregularities. I need to go for a 3D dynamic analysis. And in the static method of analysis, the assumption is the first mode of vibration is dominating the responses. So this is the. Uh you know the assumptions and if you are looking into the clause number 7.7 and which is. Uh the dynamic analysis method you can see that linear dynamic analysis will be performed to obtain the designs. Well forced. Uh for all the buildings other than. A regular building lower than 15 meter. In Seismic Zone 2, so this is a criteria, which you can where you can use you know the static. Dallas is zone 2. Um height of the structure is less than 15 meters and apart from that one. Um. There has been. And other provisions in the code equivalent static analysis may be used for analysis of the regular structure with uh. So uh you know you can understand that what we're doing for static analysis, we are simply finding out the season. And we are distributing that one in the uh. Of the structure the mass distribution and the stiffness distribution and thus this method is approx. I mean, is. Totale approximate one. So now you know, we have to keep in our mind that uh this is the major change that we have. Percent damping and if my structure has been, and we categorized as building like structure, 5% damping should be considered. Throughout. So these are the same background of equivalent static method of analysis equivalent static method of analysis assumes that fundamental mode of vibration. The first mode is uh you know the predominant and you know, there is no mass and stiffness. And the Seesmic force that is being computed. Is based on? Let mean empirical equations. Uh of the approximate natural fundamental time feared and instill in the static analysis, we are simply using some equations to find out the? Time period of the structure and we are computing. The Basheer, where the time period of the structure is required. Finding the value of essay by G. Um and the design lateral force that I mean, design lateral force obtained at each floor level are distributed. Uh you know first of all we're getting the base. Sheeran Basheer is being distributed in this in the form of a story share. And. Which is a valuable information for the structural engineers and it got the potential in formation of the ground? And at least once victim or basically it's uh.
