Cross Border Tax Issues for Canadians and U.S. Persons
This webinar addresses cross border tax issues for Canadians with ties in the United States and for U.S. persons residing in Canada. "Snowbirds" are Canadians who spend time in the U.S. to escape the Canadian winters. Other Canadians may be commuters or students who are not U.S. citizens, but commute to the U.S. for work or live in the U.S. to complete university. Canadians may also purchase a vacation or rental property in the U.S. or invest in property other than real property in the U.S.? There are a number of cross border tax issues that Canadians/U.S. persons should be aware of to avoid tax filing obligations or penalties for failing to be compliant under either U.S. or Canadian tax law. Providing Knowledge of these tax issues to students and professionals should allow for inquiry with clients to ensure that clients remain compliant with both Canadian and U.S. tax authorities. The focus of the webinar will be on individual tax compliance.
