Giving Students a Voice through Data: Marietta GA Student Life Center
This inspiring presentation outlines the story of how the Marietta Student Success Center in Marietta, Georgia, uses data and a customized SIS to not only provide academic support for high school students, but also to meet at-risk students’ physical and emotional needs through a multitude of counseling services. Some of those problems include poverty and hunger, abuse or drug addiction — problems that need to be addressed before a student has any real hope of succeeding academically. Because many of the center’s students are dealing with issues in their personal lives that often have a negative impact on their studies, this district knew it needed to organize data, make it secure, and efficiently use that data to offer students resources that will assist in their social and emotional needs.
