On June 28, 2018, California enacted the biggest and boldest expansion of U.S. privacy law in years: the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), referred to by the California legislature “As First in Nation”.
CCPA went into effect on January 1, 2020 and provides all California residents with new rights related to their personal information, including how it is collected, used and shared by organization with whom they do business. The law is not limited to companies located in California; in fact, any business that has California-based customers may need to follow the new regulations.
