ECI Live January 2020 will discuss a recently released GBES report - The Link between Supervisor Leadership and Ethics Culture: A Global Look. The findings in this report reinforced the critical role that supervisors play in influencing employees’ 1) trust in the reporting of misconduct and accountability and 2) perceptions about the acceptability of two specific behaviors (publicly reprimanding employees and gender discrimination) within organizations. Globally, across employees surveyed from 18 countries, this research found that working for supervisors with strong leadership skills had more favorable outcomes than employees working for supervisors with weak leadership skills.
The Global Business Ethics Survey® (GBES®) is a rigorous, multi-country inquiry into worker conduct and workplace integrity, providing insight into workplace ethics in both public and private sector organizations. GBES is the flagship research project of the Ethics & Compliance Initiative (ECI). Each year, ECI conducts the GBES and reports findings in four reports.
