Each were connected via a network to the cloud, to communicate data or receive operating instructions. Now, with recent technical advances and workload consolidation technology, the industrial Internet of Things is advancing to a new phase. This new phase is relying less on the “cloud” or the data center and enabling more performance, functions and capabilities within the factory, in the field or even within the operating room.
