RO Recordkeeping and Normalization

#EVENTTITLE#

Reverse osmosis (RO) membrane processes are frequently used in industry to remove dissolved salts from water.  In order to track the performance of RO systems, it is common to trend the pressures, flow rates, and conductivities associated with the feed, permeate, and concentrate streams.  The permeability and salt rejection properties of RO membranes are a function of the operating temperature, feed water salinity, and RO system recovery.  As a result it is necessary to correct the performance measurements for these variables in order to accurately assess the performance of the RO system.  This process is called normalization.  This training module will present in detail the significance of data normalization and introduce the attendees to an easy to use spreadsheet calculation method for normalization – FTNORM.
