Building Highly Scalable Applications For Bluemix

You deployed your app Bluemix and you’re excited to learn it is gaining traction, so much so that the app is being stressed and it is time to do something about it. In the past, when you had control of the infrastructure, you may look at upgrading the hardware, however with a PaaS like Bluemix you increase the compute power by adding additional instances.

Adding additional instances allows you to lessen the load on each individual instance, and therefore increasing the performance overall. You enter the number of instances you want to add and you are ready to click the Save button when suddenly you stop and wonder if this is really going to work.

Did you design your application in a way that it can scale in the cloud? Were you even thinking about the cloud when you built the app? If not, chances are your app is going to break.
