Over the last years, the evolution of technical needs (such as HP/HT wells, annular pressure build-up, drilling through salt dome) leads OCTG customers to require tubular offering improved collapse resistance vs. the standard API one. Today, pipe collapse pressure is calculated in accordance with API 5C3 equations which are based on empirical approach. However these values do not always answer today to the new technical customer well design. That is why Vallourec has developed its own high collapse product lines, labeled VM HC or VM HCSS (for sour-services application), which offer collapse pressure exceeding in average by 30% the standard API collapse pressure. These high collapse products remain fully compliant with API standard. The higher collapse pressure is achieved thanks to specific manufacturing process and best-in-class quality control. This performance is determined and guaranteed by using Vallourec proprietary collapse model.
