How can states control Medicaid costs for long-term care, while retaining or improving quality? This is one of the most critical questions confronting governments from coast to coast, as Medicaid covers over forty percent of people in long-term care. Many of them are in nursing homes, even though a good number would prefer to receive at-home or community based care.

There is hope, though, as a variety of programs ease the way to more efficient and effective long-term care. This GOVERNING and IBM webinar will focus on ways in which innovative options and grants are helping states with their long-term care conundrums, including moving beneficiaries out of nursing homes and into the community. It will also explore the challenges states confront in this field – such as fragmented fee-for-service reimbursement systems -- and explore technology solutions that can help maintain continuity of care across agencies, programs and providers; ensuring better outcomes for long-term care.
