Disability-Competent Care Webinar Roundtable Series: Training in Disability-Competent Care and Supports

Lewin Group, under contract with CMS' Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office (MMCO) and in collaboration with the Disability Practice Institute (DPI), is hosting this optional, eight-part webinar series for interested health care professionals, front-line staff with health plans and practices, and other stakeholders to explore and discuss implementation strategies for the Disability-Competent Care model.

The topics for this webinar series, Disability-Competent Care Webinar Roundtable Series: Training in Disability-Competent Care and Supports, were identified from the introduction of the Disability-Competent Care Self-Assessment Tool and the comments provided during Webinar Series #1, "Leading Healthcare Practices and Training: Defining and Delivering Disability-Competent Care".

The webinars listed here encompass Part 2 of this series. Part 1 was launched on February 4th and ended on February 25th. This is the fifth webinar in the Disability-Competent Care Webinar Roundtable Series: Training in Disability-Competent Care and Supports. Presenters will:

  1. Help participants understand the value of community participation;
  2. Discuss the range of transportation options for persons with functional limitations; and
  3. Highlight how one plan assesses the unique needs of each member and provides transportation support, as needed.
Though open to all, the target audience of this webinar is individuals who work with persons with disabilities, particularly consumers, advocates and long-term services and supports (LTSS) providers


This is the sixth webinar in the Disability-Competent Care Webinar Roundtable Series: Training in Disability-Competent Care and Supports. Presenters will:

  1. Help participants understand the scope of home modifications commonly funded by home- and community-based waivers;
  2. The value of in-home functional assessments; and
  3. Components of the home modification assessment process.

Though open to all, the target audience of this webinar is those who work with persons with disabilities, particularly AAAs/ADRCs, disability resource centers and advocates.


This is the seventh webinar in the Disability-Competent Care Webinar Roundtable Series: Training in Disability-Competent Care and Supports. Presenters will:

  1. Help participants understand cultural differences between the medical and community-based provider entities; and
  2. Highlight strategies to facilitate timely communication between care coordinators and medical and long-term services and supports (LTSS) providers.

Though open to all, the target audience of this webinar is individuals who work with persons with disabilities, particularly AAAs, disability resource centers and demonstration health plans.


This is the eighth webinar in the Disability-Competent Care Webinar Roundtable Series: Training in Disability-Competent Care and Supports. Presenters will:

  1. Help participants understand the prevalence and importance of addressing participant behavioral health needs; and
  2. Discuss strategies to facilitate timely communication and collaboration between behavioral health providers and disability-competent care teams.

Though open to all, the target audience of this webinar is individuals who work with persons with disabilities, particularly behavioral health providers.
