State and Local Tax Developments Affecting the Real Estate Industry |
Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 12:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time
This webcast will focus on recent developments affecting the real estate industry and some of the important state tax implications caused by the ownership of property interests.
Recent developments in the state tax arena, including changes in apportionment formulas and the move to combined reporting, have often overlooked implications to businesses that own real estate. In addition, states continue to enact legislation affecting the taxation of real estate investment trusts and holders of interest in REITs. Transfer taxes in the merger and acquisition context, property taxes, and the treatment of interests in flow-through entities are some of the other issues that are triggered by the ownership of property.
Our panelists will provide their insights on the unforeseen impacts on property owners caused by recent state tax changes, other overlooked tax implications of real estate ownership, and the tax impacts of establishing and having interests in REITs.
