Kurt Knapke, director, product planning and electronics, Emerson Climate Technologies, is responsible for leading the sales, marketing, product management and engineering efforts of Emerson’s commercial refrigeration electronics team. In addition, he helps to drive the refrigeration industry’s adoption of compressor electronics. He has worked at Emerson since 1997 and has held positions of increasing responsibility, first as coop student and later as a senior product engineer; he also worked as a marketing manager and in food retail and food service end user sales. He is extremely knowledgeable of system design, including system architectures and controls and compression technologies, and how each impact the customer’s total cost of ownership of refrigeration systems.
 
He is a member of the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
