Automate and Enhance Static Headspace Gas Chromatography Determinations

Event Date: June 13, 2013
USA 11:00 a.m. EDT, 10:00 a.m. CDT, 8:00 a.m. PDT, 16:00 BST

Sponsored by Thermo Scientific

Static headspace is a widely used sampling technique for the analysis of volatile organic compounds in liquid and solid matrixes by gas chromatography. This technique is accepted worldwide with a set of official norms regulating the determination of residual volatile species in various sample types, such as environmental water and soil samples, consumer and pharmaceutical products, and biological samples.

Headspace instrumentation is constantly evolving to meet ever-growing and challenging throughput and sensitivity needs. During this presentation, you will learn how to select static headspace systems for the specific needs of any laboratory, taking into consideration analytical parameters, official norms and throughput requirements.

We will review how modern headspace instrumentation incorporates sample-handling advancements that enable enhanced automation, including automated sample injections and more advanced tasks, such as dilutions for automated standard curve generation, internal standard additions, and derivatization routines which ultimately improve the quality of data generated.

High-throughput environmental, forensic, pharmaceutical, and material characterization analyses run by means of static headspace will be shared.
