Event OverviewTitle: Walking away from Alzheimer'sRecord on: March 07, 2013 AgendaThe Ontario Brain Institute has recently completed a report examining the impact of physical activity on the prevention and management of Alzheimer's Disease. Within this context, a panel of experts will discuss the report, the implications for health, and the programs available to help people become more active in their daily lives. OBI President and Scientific Director, Dr. Donald Stuss will present the results from the report and discuss the implications for individuals, families and Canadian health care. Dr. Laura Middleton, a cognitive scientist and kinesiologist from the University of Waterloo will talk about the relationship between physical activity and cognition in the context of Alzheimer's Disease. Christa-Costas Bradstreet from Participaction will talk about exercise guidelines and prescriptions of exercise. Lorraine Leblanc from the Alzheimer Society in Sudbury will discuss the roll out of the Minds in Motion Program, which is a fitness and social program aimed at people afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease and experiencing memory loss. |
