How Collapsible Core & Dove Tail Core Technology Improves Undercut Molding Efficiency

Date: November 13, 2012
Time: 02:00 PM ET/11:00 AM PT
Duration: 60 minutes

Producing plastic parts with undercuts present distinct challenges for designers and molders. The Collapsible Core has expanded the capabilities of undercut molding since 1968 with its integral flexing steel segment design. Since 2009 Dove Tail Collapsible Cores have provided the most compact way to mold internal threads and undercut features. We will present recent technological advancements that provide better, more cost-efficient methods of producing undercuts and threaded parts.

What you will learn:

  • Thread and undercut challenging complexities
  • Unscrewing and “stripping” limitations
  • Traditional Collapsible Cores – design considerations (small and large)
  • Dove Tail Cores – a compact & simpler solution
    • Eliminate complex racks & gears
    • Shorter stack height and tighter cavity pitch
    • Improve on part design
    • Maintenance advantage – serviceable in press
    • Ideal for clean room - No hydraulics or lubrication
    • Faster cycle times
    • Mold rebuild – ROI calculator
    • Pre-engineered production tool designs
  • Case studies
