Extending SANs to the Cloud: What the Data Storage Vendors Forgot
This webinar was originally broadcast on:
Wednesday, September 26, 2012 12:00 PM EDT / 9:00 AM PDT
Storage area networks (SANs) have become the de facto model for data storage systems. Yet, in a recent survey, 5 out of 6 respondents indicated that they were already using or planning to use cloud storage. Clearly IT administrators are now rethinking the traditional SAN in light of new technologies and economic models enabled by the cloud.
In fact, the traditional SAN has a number of challenges:
- An outdated capital and administratively intensive economic model
- 3-5 year life cycles, requiring costly upgrades and migrations that introduce
- considerable business risk
- Scalability and flexibility limitations across geographic distances
- Substantial additional infrastructure for disaster recovery
Join this webinar where we will discuss how cloud storage and cloud storage
gateways can overcome these limitations using a pay-as-you-go cost model,
unlimited capacity, multi-site scalability and even cloud-based disaster recovery
without dedicated infrastructure and resources.
Learn how Cloud SANs are rapidly becoming a new approach to building and
enhancing storage area networks.
What Attendees will learn:
- How cloud storage can be used as another tier of storage
- Why cloud storage reduces maintenance demands
- How cloud storage changes storage economics
- The benefits customers experience as a result of cloud storage
Who should attend:
- IT Directors
- IT Managers
- Storage Administrators
