Diversity & Disparities: A Benchmarking Study of U.S. Hospitals
The report Diversity and Disparities: A Benchmarking Study of U.S. Hospitals, based on findings from a survey conducted by the Institute for Diversity in Health Management (IFD) and the Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET), recognized high performing hospitals which were then categorized and honored by diversity in leadership and governance, diversity management and strengthening the workforce, cultural competency and engaging communities and addressing disparities and delivering quality care. Each category was determined by IFD to be a single key component of an overall diversity promotion and disparities reduction strategy.

This webinar, the first in a series to promote best practices from some of those hospitals honored for their success, will provide participants useful and relevant information about diversity management, cultural competency and its implication for addressing disparities and providing high-quality care to all. The speakers will provide their perspective on what worked for them and offer guidance on how others can embrace this effort. The webinar also supports the efforts of the Equity of Care initiative of the American Hospital Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, American College of Healthcare Executives, Catholic Health Association of the United States, and National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems to increase (1) the collection and use of race, ethnicity, and language preference data, (2) cultural competency training for clinicians and support staff, and (3) diversity in governance and management.
