Sample Preparation in Food Analysis: Methods, Strategies, and Best Practices |
Event Date: June 13, 2012 at 02:00 PM EDT |
The food industry is a multifaceted, multibillion dollar, multinational industry whose goal is to provide nutritious safe products. Additionally, the recent implementation of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Food Safety Modernization Act has increased oversight of this critical sector, with the aim of further strengthening food safety. For these and many other reasons, accurate food analysis is critical, and sample preparation is a key aspect of these analyses. This web seminar will address the topic of sample preparation strategies and techniques in food analysis in a holistic manner, covering topics such as sample homogeneity, extraction modalities, and isolation of compounds of interest, with a focus on practical examples rather than theory. We will also discuss one of the “hot topics” in food analysis — sample preparation for the determination of polyphenolic compounds.
