Delivering the 'optimal mobile backhaul' experience

This event was originally broadcast on:

Wednesday, November 16, 2011 11:00 AM EST / 8:00 AM PST

The insatiable demand for network bandwidth by today's smart phone users is driving telecom operators to increasingly deploy IP-based backhaul networks. In order to deliver the most optimal subscriber experience, equipment manufacturers and network architects must judiciously select the most suitable packet-based technologies and physical media for different network segments. But migrating today's networks, that implement multiple technologies (Ethernet, SDH/SONET, DSL, Microwave, and traditional E1/T1), to a high performance packet backhaul architecture becomes increasingly complex. Further, successfully delivering TDM-like performance on end-to-end IP-based backhaul networks presents a new set of challenges.

In this webinar, experts from Aricent will identify operator requirements and discuss the various technology options available for migrating to a packet-based network. They will investigate the latest developments in IEEE 1588, Protection Switching, and more, that make technologies like packet microwave and MPLS-TP even stronger candidates to address the metro and core networking requirements. The speakers will discuss the best possible backhaul solutions to address consumer demand that ranges from sparsely populated remote/rural areas to densely populated urban areas. They will also highlight how Aricent’s industry leading ISS has evolved to become the platform of choice for delivering high performance IP backhaul solutions.

What Attendees will learn:
  • What packet-based backhaul technology solutions are available to deliver high performance mobile broadband solutions.
  • How technologies like packet microwave and MPLS-TP can address today’s metro and core network challenges.
  • How to choose the best option to address the IP-backhaul requirements.
  • How to deliver TDM-like performance on an IP-backhaul network.
Who should attend:
  • Product line managers
  • Product marketing managers
  • Technology consultants
  • Software engineers
  • Hardware engineers
  • Network architects
