Webinars On-Demand

  • Create awareness as to how current trends in sustainable design can be weak with respect to design of roofing systems
  • Identify fundamental principles of a sustainable roofing system
  • Present relationships between roofing longevity, environmental life cycle impact, and in-service sustainable benefits of the roofing system
  • Explore a design approach that identifies candidate sustainable roofing systems by first considering service and longevity requirements with respect to building location, roof uses, local environmental conditions, and service-life requirements
Eric K. OLSON, P.E., Senior Project Manager, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc.

Brad Johnson
  • Discover business development opportunities available with insulated metal panels
  • Better understand IMPs and the important terms associated with them
  • Review policies and codes surrounding IMPs, the construction industry and how IMPs can qualify for LEED and tax credits
  • Recognize the advantages of using IMPs to increase the energy efficiency of the building envelope
  • Investigate some examples of energy modeling with cost savings via the use of insulated metal panels
  • Understand the impact relevant IMP specifications can have on the end product

Thomas J Taylor, PhD
  • This course will examine some of the key issues facing owners and developers when considering installation of solar systems on single ply roofs
  • The issues of warranty mismatches between roof membranes and solar installations are discussed. The pros and cons of various single ply membranes for use with solar are described
  • Participants will be able to identify critical aspects of single ply roof design for solar installations. They will learn about how to specify membrane for these situations
  • Finally, participants will learn about particular problems with peel and stick panels. Changes to the industry standard for TPO will be described along with how to better specify TPO for high heat conditions such as are present with peel and stick modules.

This presentation covers the features and benefits of metal roofing and wall systems. It describes how retrofitting can lower the environmental impact and increase the energy efficiency of a building. The common retrofitting applications are explained, which include metal over flat roofs and metal over sloped roofs. The ability to retrofit around roof penetrations and mechanical equipment is covered in the presentation. Design considerations and case studies show how retrofitting a roof can change the function and the architectural appeal of a roof. Even though the emphasis of the presentation is on the opportunities for metal roof retrofitting, information will also be presented on retrofitting walls as well.
Scott Kriner
  • Become familiar with metal roof and wall systems
  • Recognize the applications of metal retrofitting
  • Be apprised of issues that retrofit metal can satisfy
  • Understand the benefits of retrofitting for existing buildings
  • Become familiar with the opportunities to save energy with retrofitting
