Summary of Presentation
Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) has been weighing heavily on the minds of social workers across Canada since Bill C-14 was given royal assent on June 17, 2016. With MAiD now a legal reality for Canadians, it can sometimes feel that there are more questions than answers. This presentation will not provide all the answers, but rather address the following learning objectives:
CASW is not a regulatory body and does offer practice guidelines specific to MAiD. For specific information, consult your provincial regulatory body and your employer’s guidelines.

CASW Director of Policy and Strategy
As the Director for Policy and Strategy, Ms. Guy is responsible for providing leadership for CASW in government relations, policy research and analysis, and communications. In this capacity Ms. Guy led CASW’s efforts to influence Bill C-14. She is honoured to work nationally to promote and strengthen our profession.
She holds a BSW from St. Thomas University, a BAH in Literature and Linguistics from Queen's University, and a MA in English Language and Literature from Queen's University.
