Description:

US Treasury and the IRS released final and temporary Section 385 regulations, which address whether certain instruments between related parties are treated as debt or equity. The government made significant changes to the regulations in response to taxpayer comments, dramatically narrowing the application of the rules to better focus on related party financings that could potentially erode the US tax base.

Please join us on Thursday, November 3rd from 12:00 – 1:30 PM for a high level conversation on the regulations. Webcast attendees will be eligible for up to 1.5 Continuing Professional Education credits in Taxes.

On the webcast we will address the following questions:

• What were the high-level changes from the proposed regulations?
• Were the documentation requirements eased?
• Were the recharacterization rules relaxed?
• Were the state and local tax issues resolved?
• How might corporate tax and treasury jointly address the required compliance?
• What should companies do in the short-term? In the long-term?
