Webcast Description:

This course will give you a basic understanding of how diversity has evolved over 30 years and the role that it plays in the 21st century workplace and in the future. It also provides a broad overview of the definition of diversity, inclusion, cultural competence, and strategic diversity management. Participants will be introduced to the evolution of workplace diversity (1950s-2014) and the distinctions between the definitions above, in addition to Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity. Dr. Shirley Davis, a global workforce and talent management expert, will outline the various practices that occur at each stage of the diversity journey—from Diversity 1.0 (legal compliance and representation), to Diversity 2.0 (nice to have, morally right thing to do), to Diversity 3.0 (business imperative, competitive advantage, inclusion, bias conscious) to Diversity 4.0 (innovation, sustainability, unconscious bias, cultural competence) and allow participants to diagnose/discuss which phase of diversity they believe that their organization is currently at in their efforts.

  • Recognize the stages of diversity and inclusion in a workplace context
  • Identify behaviors and practices that can be implemented in order to foster inclusion in their workplace environments
