Dealing with High-Matrix Environmental Samples


It is always challenging to analyze complex-matrix environmental samples. This two-part webinar series will help you improve your environmental analysis. First, in part 1, we will discuss a real example using ICP-MS to analyze heavy metals in trade effluent wastewater. In part 2, we will provide tips and tricks for using ICP-OES and ICP-MS in high-matrix environmental samples.

In part I, we will look at some aspects of how trade waste--—wastewater produced at industrial and business sites--—should be discharged by permit and license requirement and give examples of ICP-MS method development for metal analysis when working with trade waste effluents. In particular, a common and challenging element to analyze in industrial waste is mercury, especially given the impact that matrix variation has on our sample results. The webinar will explore: How do you know your results are correct when analyzing mercury in the heavy matrices in industrial effluent?

In Part 2, we offers hints and tips to anticipate and reduce instrument problems when carrying out metals analysis using ICP-OES or ICP-MS instruments. We will address how to maximize uptime with heavy matrix sample analysis so that you can benefit from the full potential of your system.
