The holiday season represents one of the most significant opportunities of the year for online retailers. Is your business ready?
Consumers are browsing online more often, searching for deals earlier, and using mobile devices more frequently. During the 2014 holiday season, Akamai saw 37% of traffic originate from mobile devices, with usage hitting a high of 50% at 5pm EST on Thanksgiving day.
In addition to performance concerns, retailers must contend with malicious activity during the holiday season- Akamai found that attack traffic on Black Friday was 2.5X higher than attack traffic at the beginning of November.
Retailers need to prepare to scale for peak traffic, deliver high-quality experiences across diverse devices and networks, and defend against attackers without compromising performance.
