Impact of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) for Motor Carriers

Do you know what sleep apnea is and how it can negatively impact a motor carrier's costs, if left untreated? Are you aware of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's status concerning rulemaking and how this might impact the trucking industry?

No one knows exactly how many drivers have Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), but current estimates show that 30% of the driver population suffers from this disorder to some degree. The situational performance of an untreated driver is similar to that of a person with a .06-.08 blood alcohol content level.
