Karl G. Van Orsdol
National Account Manager
Sustainable Portfolio Services DNV KEMA Energy and Sustainability

Karl Van Orsdol serves as the National Account Manager for the Sustainable Portfolio Services for DNV KEMA Energy and Sustainability. Based in Oakland, CA, Karl engages commercial and industrial customers, as well as governments seeking to significantly enhance energy management while improving their operating costs and lowering energy risks.

Prior to coming to DNV, Karl was the Chief Global Strategist for Hewlett Packard’s Energy and Sustainability Management team. In this role, Karl was responsible for implementing energy management across the company’s global operations. Karl has also served as the Energy Risk and Sustainability Manager for the City of Palo Alto Utilities, in California. In this capacity Karl led the City’s procurement of electricity and natural gas and led the implementation of an enterprise wide energy management and greenhouse gas accounting. Karl has served on the Northern California Power Agency’s Risk Oversight Committee and also advised the Western Area Power Administration, a bureau of the US Department of the Interior, on energy risk governance and power purchasing. Prior to his work with the City, Karl was a Senior Manager with Deloitte and Touche’s Capital Markets Group working with global and municipal utilities on energy procurement and risk management. Karl also spent 5 years as Director of the Electric Power Research Institute’s international division, responsible for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Karl is the author of numerous peer-reviewed papers and reports to multi-lateral financial institutions and national governments. He holds a BA degree from Grinnell College, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles and a PhD. from University of Cambridge, UK.

Bill Kenworthy is Director of Natural Gas Regional Operations for Hess Corporation’s Energy Marketing business. Hess Energy is a leading provider of electricity, natural gas, electricity and sustainability solutions to commercial, industrial, and institutional customers in 22 states. Hess is a global, integrated energy company headquartered in New York City.

As Director of Regional Operations, Bill oversees both retail-scheduling and pricing for Energy Marketing’s five Natural Gas Operations centers, which coordinate supply for more than 7,000 customers across 60 local distribution companies.

Bill has over seven years of experience within Energy Marketing, having served in a variety of positions including Analyst, Operations Manager, and Sales Manager. He assumed his current role in 2012. Prior to Hess, Bill worked as an I/T and business analyst for a national consulting firm.

Bill began his career at Hess Corporation in 2005 in the company’s Electricity Operations division. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from NYU; and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.
