Defense Logistics: Streamlining DoD Procurement
Wednesday, March 30, 2011
2:00 PM EDT
In August, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced a department-wide initiative to increase efficiency and cut costs. As part of that effort, the Defense Logistics Agency is upgrading to an electronic procurement system. DLA executes more than 10,000 contracts per day, and the new software will standardize its procurement process and tools. Such a system could be a model for 21st Century procurement across government agencies.
